Award of Excellence
ex-cel-lence n. the quality of excelling; possessing good qualities in high degree
That is how the dictionary defines excellence. At Family Service Association, excellence is a goal which the agency and its staff constantly strive to achieve.
Our Values Statement, one that significantly defines us as an organization, begins with a philosophy of excellence -- one that clearly indicates that as an agency, we believe in the creation of an inspired vision and clear priorities, the pursuit of challenging goals, and the maintenance of effort until these goals are achieved.

During her 6 years at FSA, Monica has demonstrated consistent dedication to both the LIFT and Therapeutic Mentoring programs and to our agency values. She has established herself as a very compassionate, competent, reliable and professional team member with an innate desire to help others and care passionately about the well being of her clients and their families.
Monica demonstrates eagerness and enthusiasm when taking on new clients and welcomes new challenges and opportunities for professional growth. She empowers and motivates her clients to achieve success and personal growth. She actively displays the ability to provide goal-directed services to clients and always advocates in their best interest while respecting agency policy and ethical guidelines. She has exhibited competence in collaborating with and accurately articulating clients’ progress to families, treatment providers, and collateral team members, while, at the same time, respecting the clients’ dignity and right to confidentiality.
One of Monica’s greatest strengths is her ability to establish a trusting and respectful alliance with her clients, which provides the necessary foundation for goal achievement. She is a talented and skilled Therapeutic Mentor, as well as a loyal and committed employee. She is enthusiastic and receptive to learning new skills, and is well organized and efficient in the completion of any task. And her peer mentors in the program view her as a positive role model.
Monica has independently offered to welcome new mentors to our program by meeting with them on her own time. She has organized “shadowing” opportunities to partner with new mentors to educate them on their therapeutic role with clients and on the community and potential resources. Also, Monica is valued and well liked by her clients’ families, as evidenced by positive monthly parent satisfaction surveys. Comments include: “Monica has helped my daughter be proud of her accomplishments and she is more outgoing and happier”, “Monica is a treasure to our family and we are so lucky to have her in our lives” and “Monica has supported our family through some very difficult times and I don’t know where we would be without her”.
We are so fortunate to have Monica as a Therapeutic Mentor in our program and as an employee at Family Service. Her investment in our agency’s mission and commitment to making positive changes in the city of Fall River does not go unnoticed.
